Volunteer opportunity - June 26 Kids against hunger

This is not yet publicly announced (don't you just love secrets), but Kids Against Hunger (KAH) has just been asked to have a packing event at the Alameda Fair on June 26.  I understand that this is fully sponsored by a couple of organizations and they are looking for lots of people to come and pack food.  Similar to last year, Pleasanton is planning to store this food with their emergency disaster relief supplies.  Great opportunity to refresh their food stores.
As it gets closer to that date, we'll discuss at WINGS and select a 2 hour window that will allow a group of us to participate in the packing event.  If we time it right, we may be able to watch the pig races -- one of my favorite fair activities.

In addition to giving you plenty of advance notice to get this on your WINGS calendar, I wanted to let you know in case you are aware of other groups that might be interested in this packing event.   This is a great opportunity for a team building event (work groups, social groups, etc.).  Once registration opens, those groups can sign up for a specific time period.  Individuals and families are also welcome to sign up or just drop in.  There is always space for volunteers.
